Air Rifle Coach Certification in conjunction with a summer Junior
Shooting Camp training for students. The coach course and camp are nonprofit activity for the purpose of raising the level of training, expertise, safety, and certification of our high school rifle team programs and coaches. The coach course is also appropriate for JROTC Instructors, Boy Scout Shooting Merit Badge counselors, and 4-H Air Rifle Program Leaders.

The Hawaii Warrior Athletics and the Hawaii Friends of NRA will host a Coach Certification Course July 22-24, 2009 (8AM to 7PM) and an NRA Intermediate Junior Shooting Camp July 24-26, 2009 on the Big Island at the Kamehameha Schools (Keaau Campus). The course credential earned is Air Rifle and Smallbore Rifle Appointed Coach - Level 1, (three year term). This is the basic standard of certification in the combined NRA, USA Shooting, CMP sanctioned coach credential program. The course will be taught by National Coach Trainer Paul Davis.

The course fee is $165 (includes instruction materials, binder, test and credential fee, and bento dinners). Coaches who currently hold this credential may update their credential for the next three year term for $75 ($30 renewal fee plus cost of and course audit materials). To enroll for this course, e-mail dawnhorn@hawaii.rr.com with your name, address, phone, e-mail address, and a brief paragraph describing any current or past coaching experience. Please mail a $50 deposit check made payable to "Hawaii FNRA" to 129 South Kalaheo Ave., Kailua, HI 96734. DOE and School checks are accepted.

The Intermediate Junior Shooting Camp is open to Hawaii high school students age 12- 20 with at least one year experience in air rifle competition. It is a key training event for student athletes and will include techniques for advancement in Sporter and Precision Air Rifle. Housing for students attending camp will be provided with host families. Coaches attending the Certification Course and Camp may also request housing with host families.
